NBA ENTERTAINMENT, SPORTS &ART LAWSECTION
NBA Members will explore some of the following areas of Entertainment,
Sports & Art (ESA) law below in seminars, newsletters, debates,
internships, new job searches for ESA lawyers, in the development
of new ESA legal theories and in networking:
1. Motion Pictures, Television, Cable and Radio - Legal, artistic and business related issues will be presented in various forms. Topics will include federal regulations and administrative practice, antitrust, unfair competition and trade practices, contracts, copyright and legal aspects of new technology.
2. Sports - Intercollegiate and Professional
3. Music and Theatre - Performing Arts Law
4.Visual Arts - Examination of legal the issues involved in the creation, reproduction,display, acquisition, or transfer of a work of art. This involves contract law, copyright law, First Amendment law, commercial law, tax law and torts. Members will examine all Art law issues.
5.Interactive Media and New Technologies - This area will cover the examination of rights and clearances, labor relations and contracts with artists & composers.
6. Literary Publishing - This area covers business and legal issues with authors and publishers of literary works, including literary agents, copyright, author- publisher contracts, titles and trademarks, work made for hire situations, joint authorship and collaberations, First Amendment, libel & privacy, electronic publishing, foreign laws, treaties and international marketing.
